I have been with my forever home for almost 1 1/2 yrs now and will be turning 2 in May. While my mom seems to forget I have a blog of my own, she does not forget about me...even when I chew the arms and legs off my sisters Barbie dolls and leave trails of chewed up body parts all over the house (oops).

Over the past year I have had lots of attention from strangers while out and about with my family. I have been told how pretty I am, called a good dog and have even changed the mind of a few "anti" Pit Bull people and have had them thank me for that.

Life has been very good for me here but it is time to move. My family is military and move every two years so now I get to travel with them on what they call their "new adventure". Not sure how excited I am about being translated from my very nice San Diego weather to Pennsylvania...from what I understand they have this stuff called snow in the winter time and it gets pretty cold. Doesn't sound like a place for a Southern California dog to be, but I will give it a shot. On a good note I will have 3 acres of land to run free, maybe I will find some rabbits to race.

So this is my life, a very pampered pooch who receives lots of love and has lots of love to give back. Maybe my mom will get her act in gear after the move and keep up on my blog. Maybe she'll post pictures of me in my new home and of all the new places I will be sniffing out. Hi everyone it has been awhile. I am in a constant 24/7 sewing mode for my biz right now, lots of orders coming and and my first international order is on it's way to Australia so wicked excited! Plus getting ready to launch a new line..blah blah blah. Sookie has been a trooper and luckily hubby has taken over her outdoor activity. You can always tell when Sook feels she is being ignored because she will walk into the girls room, pick up one of their toys and talk past you while staring as she goes to the backyard to lay down and chew it up.

If your paying attention you catch her as she walks past (which is what she wants) but unfortunately some toys had to be chewed in order for us to key in on this new behavior of hers. She is defiantly like my girls in this aspect of needing constant attention and acknowledgment...lol

Anyways, wanted to pop in and say hello. still have a lot to do this week but Sook and I will be back soon to catch up with everyone!

Naval Base San Diego held their annual Woof Walk this past Saturday. It was a blast! We saw all sorts of dogs. "Chugs" (Chihuahua/Pug) and "ChaWinnies" (Chihuahua/Doxie) and a lot more Pit Bulls than I expected as that was awesome to see. All the dogs where very sweet and Sook had a blast meeting them all.

A Dog's Purpose From a 6 Year Old

I received this email from my mom and wanted to share, be prepared for the water works.

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron , his wife Lisa , and their little boy Shane , were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane , who had been listening quietly, piped up, ''I know why.''

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try to live.

He said,' People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?''
The Six-year-old continued,' Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.''

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

Nice Visit But Home Again

We are back home! Thursday mid morning we packed the car and all the Darmock girls went on a road trip. We headed up north to surprise my mom. With help from my brother we pulled off a great surprise when we arrived 8 hours later on her door step. Sookie did better than I expected with the trip, granted there was pit stops along the way and she had her bedding to relax in. Mom has 2 Boarder Collies Sammy & Fletcher..they were not thrilled to see Sook. They have never had furry visitors before let alone sleep there for a couple days, but Sookie was all to excited at the prospects of other dogs. Fletcher the best her could warmed up to Sookie and even toward the end would play tug a war. Sammy wanted nothing to do at anytime with Sook. Sook was the total puppy to Sammy. Crawling on her belly over to Sammy, rolling over, trying to paw her to play, and Sammy made it clear that was never going to happen. Sookie didn't mind, she thought it was all a game. The visit was awesome, over 1000 miles round trip to see mom for 48 hours and totally worth it.

From testing the product..errrr rather Sookie testing this product over the past week, I can say I have noticed a huge difference in her breath. Like amazingly different. I have not been able to get over here the last few days and Sookie reminds me daily of this. I have been sewing a lot for my girls and Sookie has been the recipient of new collars. My favorite one on her is the pink "Muertos" fabric. It looks great against her black fur. I love that these clips I found have the reflector on them.

I'm still working on some hot pink ones. Really though, how many collars does a dog really need? I guess it's kind of like shoes and woman..lol

Thank you everyone for your comments about the ridiculous ban at our base. Only good thing they did right is that Sookie will still be "allowed" on base to see the Vet. Which is fine. Hubby and I talked about it and that really is the only reason we would "have" to have her on base, so they can bite me, I'm not playing their "do it now or else" game.

It has been raining for a few days here so poor Sookie as had cabin fever I think..lol So we are on our way out to the park to go run and play in the San Diego sun! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Breed Ban On Our Base

Aghhh. We are a military family. Hubby is stationed at Marine Corps base here in San Diego. Today he forwarded an email letting me know that our dog is no longer allowed on base without a waver from the commander of the base. It's really not that big of a thing, but it is. There are stipulations that if we follow she will be allowed back on base but it's just sad that we have to pay extra money and jump through hoops in order to get the waver. What's even better is if you dispute the breeding of your dog, you have to have a DNA test done...lol

Muffin Tin Monday - Muffin Tea Party

For those of you who follow my other blog this will be a duplicate post for you but I had to share it here too. Today is Muffin Tin Monday. A big hit in our house hosted by my girl Michelle at Muffin Tin Mom. Muffin Tin Mom is the original home of MTM, all other sites which "claim to be" are only impostors and not as cool.

Concept of MTM is easy. For fun every Monday we serve our kiddos yummy food in fun muffin tins and or cups. Sometimes there are themes like "Zoo" or "Dr. Seuss" and sometimes no theme like today. So we created our own theme today...Muffin Tea Party. The reason I had to post it here as well is because everyone, including Sookie dressed up and participated for the tea party....

For Us:
* Apple Juice "tea"
* Mixed Berry Mini Muffins
* Pink & White Iced Animal Crackers
* Sliced strawberries served in muffin cups

For Sook:
* Milk Bones
*Doggie Jerky

So if you have kiddos I highly recommend this weekly fun event, you will enjoy creating the tins as much as your kiddos will love eating it...and apparently dogs do not mind either..lol

I was snoozin next to ma lady yesterday on the couch and she starts waughing very woudly. It woke me from my nice wittle slumber and I wondered what was going on. I popped my head up and on the 'puter I see pictures of animals, I guess she thinks they are funny...humans have a weird sense of humor. So for all my human friends I will be posting some of the pictures over the next few days. Maybe they will make you waugh too :)

Well I think Cammie the camera, my dearest friend has finally had it. I took the last pictures I think I can with her of the family at OB Dog Beach on Saturday. This is all I got out of her and was very bummed b/c these would have been great if it wasn't for...well whatever the problem is...weird right?

Come on tax return so I can get a new and improved camera. I can not live without one!

Chillin In My Fleece Hoodie

More fleece. Since I made those braided toys for Sook the other day she has been having a blast with them. I can actually say they are pit bull tested and they last..lol I have been making more, just a small stash, but when I have enough I will hold a giveaway and some lucky pooch's are going to have fun!

Today after we returned from our walk everyone was exhausted so I thought this was the perfect time to get some sewing done. Normally I would be sewing for the girls or my shop, but today it was for Sookie. I found this adorable tut on how to make a Doggie Hoodie and the woof woof model Norton is so sweet in his hoodie I thought well heck Sookie will be extra cute..cause yah know, I'm just a little bias. :)

My First Dog Project - Braided Fleece Rope

Here I am another blog, another day. I must be crazy for taking on another full time blog with my original as busy as it is, but I think this one will do just fine. I have been itching to make something for Sook, it's not enough to sew for my human girls, but now my fur baby as well. I love it!So for my first project I thought I would start easy and simple. Knowing I have a full tub full of fleece and that Sook loves tug toys how perfect was it to make her a few rope tugs.

I found the instructions on HGTV.com, they are very simple and it only took a few minutes to create. Out of the 3 pieces of fleece I cut I was able to get 2 toys! One really long one (40") and shorter one (24"). What a bargain! You know what these go for in the pet stores? Well of course you do but it you can get your fleece on sale...it's a steal!

I had fun making these for Sook and even more fun watching the girls play with her. I think I am going to be making a few different sets and giving them away on both my blogs. That will be fun, and then some other pampered pooch and enjoy them too.

The Rules Of Having A Pit Bull

If you are out you should be home.

If you are home you should be in the same room as me.

If you are in the same room as me you should be looking at me.

If you are looking at me you should be petting me.

If you are looking at me and petting me, you should call your friends over so they can look at me and pet me, too.

When your friends come over, you should stand back from the door so I can greet them.

After an hour of you and your friends petting me, you should give me a treat and leave me alone so I can go enjoy it.

Your friends should not try to leave, or else I will have to lick their hands and faces while they try to put shoes on.

Once everyone is gone, you should go to bed.

If I am in bed before you, you should not fight the fact that I have already claimed the pillow.

I belong to a great group called Pit Bull Positive and I found this on one of the message boards. It rings so true so I had to share it as my first post.
